Willow is part of our "Fall in Love" adoption special and has a waived adoption fee.
Meet Willow! She came into GPMR when her owner had to go through cancer treatment and wasn't able to keep her. She lived with that family since a puppy and she was terrified and confused when she first arrived into rescue. We don't think she was mistreated at all but it's clear she never left her home very much and so new situations are very scary for her. She gets so scared that she will urinate in fear at the vet's office, which makes us feel so bad for her. Willow is almost 5 years old. She is great with other dogs but does not like to share her food bowl, so she just needs to be fed by herself. Other than that she does great, and is curious about cats but not enough to investigate. The ideal home for Willow would be a quiet, adult only home, she is scared of children and the noises that come along with having little ones. Willow's family needs to patient with her and understand that she will take several weeks to adjust in her new home. She loves her crate and that's where she goes when she is worried about something. She is house trained as well and is very well behaved indoors. When she goes outside she likes to do her business and come right back inside. She is definitely a homebody and not a good match for someone who wants a Mastiff they can bring places with them. She much prefers to be home rather than out and about. Willow was adopted to a single woman and then returned 8 months later when the woman developed health issues and was no longer able to care for Willow. We were so sad for both of them! Since Willow has been back, she's done really well adjusting back into her foster home. We're proud that she was able to go to a new home and then come back, without having any major setbacks. We know her forever home is out there! Willow was recently diagnosed with partially torn ACL's in both knees. One side has been like that a while and the specialist said likely injured it long before we got her. The other side is a recent injury and we've opted to try a brace on the knee instead of surgery. So far she is doing well with it! Willow is being fostered in Guthrie, OK. More about WillowGood with Dogs, Good with Cats
