Lorelai's adoption fee is waived as part of our Spring into Summer Adoption Event!
Meet Lorelai! This sweet girl came to us via our friends at the TX SPCA, we've worked with this group many times over the last year or so. Lorelai and Halle came in together as strays in rough shape. Both dogs were very thin and just infested with fleas. Lorelai had one puppy born shortly after she was rescued. Now that baby has been weaned and adopted, we can focus more on getting Lorelai ready for adoption. We were told that Lorelai tested + for heartworms but we've done 2 follow up tests and both were negative! This petite priss is around 2 years old. Although she didn’t know any basic commands when she came to us, she’s fairly low maintenance. She does know sit and come. She doesn’t lay down on command, but she likes her beauty naps so it hasn’t been an issue in her foster home. Lorelai loves affection and just wants to be near her people. When she gets excited, her entire back end wiggles back and forth. She likes to sit up and raise one or both paws to show her excitement. She is house and crate trained. At times, she retreats to her crate with the door open to relax or nap. Her guard dog instincts are on point, she barks at the doorbell, strange noises, or unknown people or pets approaching the house. Lorelai does have some underlying insecurities. She didn’t know what to think about her foster brother at first. He is playful and comes on strong, the first few times he tried to engage her in play, she may have felt threatened and snapped at him. After a week of getting to know him and realizing that he just wanted to play, she was all in. She is smaller than he is but she doesn’t back down. She plays hard and can hold her own. They play hard EVERY day without issue. She would be a great match for a home with a submissive male dog that would enjoying her daily play routine! She is not recommended for small dogs or cats or families who have other dogs reguarly visiting the home. She is not interested in socializing with new dogs that she doesn't know. We can only guess she must have had some very negative experiences with other dogs prior to coming to us. Lorelai needs a person that understands introverts. With some people, it takes her time to trust and warm up and others it's a quicker process. But when she does, her circle gets to enjoy all of her characteristics from prissy princess to tough guard dog with a great bark. Lorelai is being fostered in Yukon, OK.
