Irish Wolfhound / Scottish Deerhound / Mixed (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Young : : Large Learn more about the Irish Wolfhound. Learn more about the Scottish Deerhound.
Delilah's story is a sad one. She came to us as a puppy- just 8 weeks old. (previously known as Jazzy) She was pulled from a local kill shelter with her two sisters. At the time, the shelter was calling them mastiff-mixes, but as she has grown, we do not see any mastiff in her. She appears to be part Irish Wolfhound although she is not the size of an Irish Wolfhound. Currently she weighs around 62 lbs. She was adopted in 2007, but due to the economy and some hardships her family fell upon, Delilah is coming back to GPMR. She was living in a home with children under the age of 12 and does great. She loves all people she meets and gets along with other dogs and cats. She can be scared of loud noises and sometimes of the car. Her surrendering family had some trouble keeping Delilah in her crate, but we believe that this was due to the number of hours she was left alone in her crate. The family had to move to a rent house that did not allow "large dogs" and so Delilah was delegated to the crate or a playroom and often did her business in the house since she was rarely let outside. We are working with her on this and will be teaching her the appropriate place to go potty. She is a smart girl and will catch on very quickly. UPDATE: 2/21/09 Delilah went to play at doggie daycare today and did great! She was playing with 15 dogs within the first hour and within an hour and half she was exhausted and napping with a smile on her face. This girls anxiety comes from boredom. She did not get enough mental or physical stimulation in the previous home, which we believe led to some of the anxiety issues. She will do wonderfully in a home that will include her in their daily life. *The last photo is of Delilah as a puppy* If you are interested in adding Delilah to your family, please fill out an adoption application now.
