Meet Mia! She is a 4 year old girl who was surrendered by her owners because she would bark and wake the young children up during their naptime. Mia was also very bossy with the other dogs.

Mia is a "Fluffy" meaning she carries a recessive gene that causes this longer haircoat. They are not very common to see and she has a beautiful color and coat!

Mia has what we call "stranger danger". It appears she was not socialized outside of the people in her home, so when when she sees people or dogs out the window or when new people come over she barks at them. It will continue until she can no longer see them or she is redirected. She warms up to women faster than men. We are doing some training session to help her build up her confidence so she can learn she doesn't need to be barking at people. She does not bark when outside the home while on walks, just when people are coming into "her" house.

Other than barking, Mia is well behaved inside the home. She is trusted to roam freely in the house and will only chew on toys. She loves all of her toys and wants to have several to choose from. She likes to always to have a chew toy and loves to play with plush toys as well. Mia is housebroken and has had no accidents. She is learning to walk politely on a leash and requires a harness and lead.

Mia loves to run, chase, and fetch, so she would do well in a home with a large yard. She prefers supervision outside and wants to see that her people are around before she plays or does her business. She is very friendly and affectionate but can also be territorial and protective of her toys with other dogs. It took her a couple of weeks to warm up to her foster brother, but now they get along just fine, without issue. She does want to be the alpha, but that's fine with the passive resident dog. She can be placed with a submissive dog who doesn't mind her bossiness and also won't steal her toys or try to push too much play on her. While she will engage in play with the other dog, everything she does with other dogs she wants on her comfort level. Mia is not recommend for homes with small dogs or cats.

Mia is in great health and ready to be adopted!

Mia is being fostered in Fort Smith, AR
