Mastiff : : Male (neutered) : : X-Large
Meet Mo! He was found wandering and taken to a local shelter to see if any owners came looking for him. Unfortunately no owner was located or came to clam him so he was transferred to GPMR. Mo was extremely underweight when we got him so working on small meals several times a day he's now up to almost 140 lbs!
Mo is male and female dog friendly, gets along great and puts up with a younger puppy "play machine". He is a mush and needs a dog that isn't too bully in personality and push him around. For a dog with very little training, he listens. If he's told not to do something, he stops. He is very sensitive. and wants to please VERY badly.
At 1-2 years old, Mo is still young and will get jumpy toward your face when excited. We are really working on that. He whips his body around very fast so a home with no small kids might be better... older kids or kids we are used to giant dogs and don't cry if they get a tail whip to the face.
Mo is not too pully on a leash. He relaxes into a loose leash walking and now that the weather is colled, we'll get him him out and about in the neighborhood to see if he has any issues with walking in crowded areas. Mo LOVES people but will bark at people he doesn't know and so needs a proper intro to strangers. He is true velcro and follows his foster mom everywhere including the bathroom.
Mo Loves to eat, snuggle on the bed, lay in the sun, and play with toys/other dogs. He was so skinny when he came in so it's important his family lets him feel secure in his food by eating in a private, secure place away from other dogs. His favorite treat is his Lick Pop.
Mo seems to be non destructive in a house. When home alone, he stays in the laundry room behind a baby gate, because he does not like to crate. He is quiet as a mouse. He isn't yet allowed to free roam but he's never bothered anything on the counters when he is out and about.
The shelter tested him with a couple of cats and he seemed wary/afraid of them. He does fine in the car but again, he's wary of getting into one so it's something we'll work on with him so he's more comfortable loading in and out of cars.
Mo is being fostered outside of St. Louis, MO.
