12/15/14 Update: Sampson had what we had hoped would be his last surgery as the vet was able to close the wound, but unfortunately it didn't take and most of the stitches came out. We are so heartbroken for Sampson as he now has several more months of wound care ahead of him. Sampson has a home waiting for him once he's cleared by the vet but we're still managing his medical care until the vet clears him for adoption. Please share his story and consider a donation, this boy's expenses are over $3,000. He is such a trooper and so deserving!

10/21/14 Update: Sampson is doing well. He's had several surgeries to remove dead tissue and bone fragements from his wound with hopes that we can get it to heal all the way. It's been a very slow road but he is progressing. Please continue to share his story and donate towards his care. Thank you!

Poor Sampson has a sad story - he was surrendered to GPMR by his owner.  At some point several months ago he injured his foot and did not receive adequate medical care.  As a result, his rear foot is like a "stump".  He has no toes left and a large wound where his toes should be.  We are doing every possible to save the leg.  If we can get the wound to heal, he may be able to receive a prosthetic foot.  We're researching all options but now are concentrating on getting him healed up.  His vet bills are rising with daily bandage changes and cold laser treatments and medications too to treat the bone infection he has in the leg.  Sampson has a long road ahead but this boy is amazing and we're hopeful we can get him healed!

Please consider donating to his care, as his bills are expected to be very high.

Sampson will be on Medical Hold until released by the veterinarian.  He is being fostered in Oklahoma City, OK.
