Update: Ben is doing great! Gaining weight and his foot is healed up. He has an adoption pending!

Meet Gentle Ben! He was rescued by a good Samaritan when he was found with a severe injury to his foot and the bone of one of his toes was sticking out through the skin. He was transferred to GPMR and we immediately got him to the vet. We're not sure what caused the injury, but there was so much infection, the toe had to be amputated.

Despite his injury, Ben has just been a joy to be around. He's super affectionate and just wants to lean on you. Definitely a Velcro Mastiff! He is about 40 pounds underweight, so we'll be working on getting him healthy. He was treated for intestinal parasites and fleas, and thankfully tested negative for heartworm!

Ben will be on medical hold for several weeks while his foot heals, he still has a tremendous amount of swelling and may need an additional surgery on his foot.

Thank you Michele and Melanie for naming this sweet boy for us!

Ben is being fostered in Edmond, OK
