Meet Leelah! Leelah ended up at a shelter in TX. Her owner had surrendered her because the neighbor's kids were tormenting her through the shared fence, poking her with sticks, throwing things at her. This was upsetting to Leelah and she started growling at them. Despite her owner's efforts at trying to resolve this, the kids would not stop and so her owner thought she would be better in a new home.
Leelah is super sweet with your typical Mastiff temperament. She loves to be with her people and so we'd love find her a home where someone is home part of the day. Despite her past experience, she has been very good with the kids she has been around since in our Rescue. Of course these kids have all been respectful of her and so we would expect the same for any family who adopts her. She is extremely submissive with people, however Leelah can be tempermental with other dogs and would be best as the only dog in the home. However she does fine with cats. She is about 6 years old and heartworm negative. Leelah does have some separation anxiety and we've started her on medications to help keep her relaxed. She also a fear of thunderstorms and fireworks and will need extra cuddling (and medications) during these events. She is not destructive, but she is very nervous and panting, shaking and pacing when those T-storms roll through. Poor girl!
Leelah has a lot of love to give a family. Please help us find her forever home!
Leelah is being fostered in Guthrie, OK
