GPMR does not have a shelter. All of our dogs are kept in loving foster homes. We must have a completed adoption application on file before meeting any of our mastiffs.
  
GPMR adopts to the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana and parts of Colorado.

Meet Winston! He was found wandering in TX and taken to the local shelter, but no one ever came to pick him up and so he came to GPMR. Winston had a large wound on his rear leg, it looks like it had been there for a while and that he's was licking and chewing it, which has prevented it from healing. He has a callous in the same spot on the other leg, so he probably had something that started this process for him. We had Xrays taken at the vet and it doesn't appear to be cancerous, so with antibiotics and pain meds, and keeping him in "the cone of shame" and lots of bandage changes, it has healed up and he's not licking it any more!

Winston is estimated at 5 years old. He is a super friendly boy that doesn't know a stranger. He is most definitely a velcro Mastiff and will follow you all over the house, including the bathroom if you don't shut the door all the way! We'd love to find Winston a home where someone is home part of the day. Winston has been very friendly with other dogs in his foster home, but he is very focused at barking at the cat, so a home without cats would be best for him. He has such a good temperament that a home with older kids 8+ would be fine for him. This boy is pretty slobbery so be prepared to have your drool rags at various strategic locations in the home. He also has a habit of eating socks, so you'll have to keep those up off the floor.

Winston is a healthy boy other the this leg issue which is now all healed up. We suspect it's what the vets called a lick granuloma, meaning it's a place that he started bothering at some point, maybe out of stress or anxiety, and just continued to lick and chew it and it got out of control. We have found a cream that keeps him from licking it and it's working well so far! He tested negative for heartworms which we are very happy about! If you are looking for a constant companion, this is the boy for you!
