Meet Courage! She came into GPMR with 5 of her relatives after being rescued by a local SPCA from a neglect situation. The breeder of these dogs was not providing adequate food or any vet care and turned them over to the SPCA. They were extremely underweight when they arrived at the SPCA. All of these dogs lived together and but were not socialized at all outside the home, and so in new situations they are very fearful. In their foster homes, they are doing great and do not show many signs of fear at all. We are working on leash training as only one of the dogs knew how to walk on a leash, the rest just dropped to the ground and wouldn't move. All of the dogs had fleas, intestinal parasites, and varying degrees of skin/ear/eye infections. The SPCA did an amazing job getting them started on the road to good health!

Courage is a 9 month old pup. Her fear issues are not as severe as some of the other dogs in this group. In her foster home she's doing really well, has met some new people and is acting like a well adjusted girl. She has started her leash training and doing well. She is still pretty afraid of things outside the home and it will be a process to slowly build confidence and work on socialization. We have no doubt she will get there!

Courage does have a heart mumur and we have her scheduled to have that evaluated by the veterinarian and determine if she needs to be on any medication. She currently does not show any physical symptoms of heart issues.

Courage is being fostered outside of Austin, TX.
