Meet Duke! Kyra, Duke and Cain all came into GPMR together. They were surrendered by his owner when he could not afford to care for so many dogs. This trio are very sweet for sure.
Duke is 10 months old. Despite being an outside dog in his first part of life, Duke has acclimated SO well to being an indoor pup. He is crate trained, house trained, and great with other animals. In fact, we will require Duke to be placed in a home with another medium to large size dog. He's always had the companionship of other dogs and it's where he is the happiest. Duke is a very gentle giant, and we mean GIANT, he is already 120 lbs at 10 months. He will be a big guy!! He a gentle mouth, which means he doesn’t shred toys, YAY!! He is very easily redirected if he’s starting to get into trouble, and he’s very sensitive when he gets a stern voice. Even though Duke is 10 months, he’s your typical lounge around mastiff. He doesn’t play hard, or run around the yard like a crazy pup. Duke enjoys face wrestling on the ground with his foster brother, and maybe a little trot in the back yard here and there. He is currently learning how to walk on a leash like a good boy, along with all his basic commands. Duke is not going to be your on the go, outdoorsy, kind of dog. He prefers to go on SHORT walks, and maybe a small trip to the pet store. He’s not looking for exciting adventures, but he’s the cutest, most gentle, giant you will ever meet. Duke had a condition called entropion. This is a genetic condition where the dog's eyelids roll inwards towards the eyeball. It causes a lot of eye infections and over time, if left untreated, it can cause a lot of scarring on the eye and impair the dog's vision. Thankfully Duke has no permanent damage and he's already received the neccessary surgery to correct the eyelids. We know he's good with other larger dogs but small dogs and cats are unknown at this time. Because we don't have any history of the dogs with children, we won't place them in a home with kids under 10. Duke is fostered in Midland, TX. More about DukeGood with Dogs
