Carter came from a Humane Society in central AR. He is heartworm positive and they did have any funding to be able to treat heartworms, and he is just so great of a dog so they contacted GPMR for help. He is laid back and gentle and had been staying in their office during the day to greet the visitors to their shelter. He knows commands such as sit, lay down, & shake. He is a big talker and housebroken.
Carter does well with most other dogs but doesn't like hyper dogs that jump in his face. He would do best in a home with a calmer dog. Currently he is being fostered with an older Lab and 2 kids ages 5 and 7. He really prefers being with his people more than other dogs. Carter is on Medical Hold, he recently recovered from Pneumonia. When he is healthy enough he will undergo Heartworm treatment.
