This is Hope, she was found as a stray and taken to a local shelter.  At 96 pounds this girl is emaciated.  Her skin is infected and missing a lot of hair due to a flea infestation.  She is also heartworm positive.  Hope came into the shelter with a wound on her rear leg, when the vet was suturing it, they realized that something was not right.  They took an Xray and saw that she had a 6 inch landscaping stake lodged into her thigh.  The vet removed it, luckily there were no broken bones and she is using that leg so we hope she doesn't have any nerve damage.  We don't think that her injury was an accident and we can't understand why someone would want purposefully to hurt her.  Hope is just as sweet as they come!

5/11/11: Hope is doing very well. She is eating great and settling into her foster home.  Her skin infection is improving and her wound is slowly healing but she has a long road ahead of her before she is healthy enough for adoption.  Hope is just as sweet as can be and we're so glad we had the chance to save this precious girl!

8/1/11: Hope is ready for adoption!  She has healed from her wounds, completed heartworm treatment and has started filling out into the gorgeous girl we knew was there.  Thanks so much to Jenny Froh for the beautiful photos!

We've had very high medical expenses for Hope as we nursed her back to health from her injuries and starvation and heartworm treatment.  Please consider making a donation for her today.

Hope is being fostered in Cedar Hill, TX.
