Mastiff (short coat) : : Male : : X-Large
This is Job, he has a very sad story. Job was found in a house where he was left by his owner, in deplorable conditions like those you can see on the Animal Police shows with urine and feces all over the house. We suspect he jumped through a window to escape his prison because he has a laceration on his ear and found a window broken from the inside. He is extremely underweight and dehydrated. Luckily a good samaritan found him and he is currently being hospitalized on IV fluids to help get him back to health. His lab tests have come back relatively normal so we're hopeful he will make a full recovery, but he has a long road ahead of him to get there. We estimate his age at 7-8 years old. He has a typical Mastiff personality in that he is very laid back and reserved, We think he is trying to figure out why his world has changed so much, but we sense that he knows it's for the better.
Job will not be available for adoption until he's cleared by the veterinarian, but his veterinary bills are expected to be high so any donations to help us get him healthy again are greatly appreciated! Update 4/14/08: Job is off IV fluids now and went into foster care today. He seems better but is still very weak. He's eating well and being a good boy about getting his ear medications, even though the severe ear infection he has must be very painful. One of the technicians today noted that he looks like Eyore from Winnie the Pooh! Updated 4/22/08: Job went back to the vet for a checkup. He has gained 11 pounds! He has been coughing a little bit, our vet said it's probably just a bacterial bronchitis and his lungs sound good and clear. He still has an ear infection so we got some additional meds for that and gave his ears a good cleaning. He is such a gentle boy, and lets us clean his ears with no fuss at all! He is smart enough to figure out how to open the storm door, it was only a minute before his foster mom noticed his absence and found him laying on the front lawn. Apparently he enjoys sunbathing and rolling around in the grass. :) More about JobGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
