Gema is over her illness. She is eating like a champ now, and not coughing anymore. She is now ready for placement. Her personality has started to shine and she seems to be more on the dominate side for a female. She would do best in a home with a submissive sibling.

Update: 1/28/2013- Gema is still fighting her Kennel Cough. She has been given shots of antibiotics, steroids, and IV fluids because of dehydration.  Gema was so sick she couldn't eat and lost 10 pounds since she came into rescue, but her appetite is back and now we think we are on the road to recovery :)
Gema
’s foster mom describes her as “perfection on 4 legs!”  There are very few dogs out there that are so loving, sweet, gentle, and appreciative of their second chance at life.  All she wants is to be loved and loved on.  She wants to be around her foster family as much as possible.  Although she has had to spend a lot of time alone in quarantine, she has been a perfect lady—has never had an accident or chewed on a thing.  She is the perfect size and is absolutely gorgeous (her pictures do not do her justice!).  She loves her two-legged foster brother (2 year old little boy) and lets him kiss her and give her hugs as much as he wants.

Gema, is a young mastiff mix girl that was saved from a local shelter. Gema was turned into the shelter after she was spotted wandering around the country side for several weeks. This emaciated girl embraced her saviors, but they did not have room to keep her as their own. Gema was taken to a local shelter, where GPMR was contacted. Volunteers went to see her and even though she wasn't full mastiff she was so perfect and loving they couldn't leave her! They said she just had an irresistible personality attached to a wiggly bottom, and she couldn't stop GRINNING :) It was as if she knew she was being saved. From there Gema was then taken to the vet, But like most Shelter dogs Gema got sick with an upper respiratory infection. She is fighting a tough battle with the cold, She is currently on medications! She is also heartworm negative.

Gema lives with other dogs but only gets along with some. She likes her submissive Boxer mix sister and french bulldog sister. She seems to be more dominate and her other sister and brother don't appreciate that much. She also lives with a 2 yr old baby which she loves. She is crate and potty trained.
PLEASE consider giving this beauty a chance at life, especially since she has fought so hard to make it this long.  She has been through so much so far, Let's find her a great home. Maybe even consider sponsoring her current vet care.

Gema is fostered in OKC
