UPDATE: We are happy to report that Ginger doesn't resemble the same dog that came into the rescue. She is now close to 130lbs, the fleas are long gone and her wound has healed with her fur almost completely grown back! She has been spayed and is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. Ginger has the ideal gentle giant mastiff demeanor and is very well behaved. She is house and crate trained, follows simple commands, and plays well with other dogs. She's great with kids of all ages, she doesn't jump on people at all. She has recently started using her doggie voice when someone comes to the door to let them know she's home. Ginger has free roam of the house while her foster family makes short trips and has done well. However when left alone for longer periods of time she is crated and does well.
Now that she is a healthy weight, we think she is probably a Mastiff/Dane mix.
This sweet girl is just about as perfect as they come.
1/1/16: Ginger is new to GPMR, unfortunately her story is not. Ginger was rescued from living a life outside and obviously neglected. She is emaciated, infested with flea's, ear infections and has open infected sores on her backside. Ginger's teeth are broken and worn, we suspect she may have been chained and tried to chew herself free. She is also heartworm positive. Thankful, she is now resting comfortably at her foster families in probably what is her first inside bed. She is under medical care and will be on Medical Hold, until her health improves. Stay tuned for updates on Ginger.
Ginger is being fostered in Yukon, OK
