Romeo, Romeo...what a super sweet boy!! He is an absolute love bug. Romeo came through the rescue back in 2012 when he was about 8 months old. Unfortunately Romeo's family fell on hard times and then went through a divorce, which is when Romeo was returned. They sadly neglected his vet care and Romeo tested positive for heartworms. We put him on the slow kill medications for treatment and he recently had a negative heartworm test!
We thought back in 2012 that Romeo he may be a Mastiff mix. He is currently between 8 and 9 years old and is about 100bs. but on a diet - he recently weighed in at 94 lbs which is a healthy weight. He is possibly a Mastiff/Boxer but he for sure has the calm Mastiff personality. He is great with older kids 5 and up. Romeo, like his namesake, is a sweet boy with a lot of love to give!
Romeo has shown to be selective about the dogs he likes, so we are searching for a home where he can be the only dog in the house. He would not be a good candidate for dog parks or other areas where dogs mingle off-leash. We don't recommend him for families with cats.
Romeo's previous owner reports he likes to try and escape from the house and yard, so he needs a home with a 5 or 6 foot fence, preferably stockade/privacy fencing. He has not tried escaping since we've had him back in our rescue.
Romeo's adoption fee was donated by two of our supporters!
He is being fostered in Edmond, OK.
Orginal Bio from 2012:
Meet Romeo! He was rescued from a TX shelter. We are guessing his age around 8 months old. We think he is a Mastiff/Bullmastiff mix as he seems to have traits of both breeds. Romeo is good with other dogs and would be fine with older kids but he's too much of an active puppy for small children. Right after Romeo came into rescue, he got kennel cough so he's been staying at the vet's office, but he is back to good health and is ready to go into foster care. If you think you have room for this sweet pup in your home, please submit an adoption application for him today!
