This is Carlisle from our twilight litter. He is 3 months old and black in color. He still needs some work on potty training but his foster mom is working on that. Update 2/18/09: Carlisle was seen by our vet because he was limping on his left front leg. The vet took an Xray and told us that one of the bones in this leg, the radius, is growing a little faster than normal which is causing him to limp and the leg to look weird. He said most times these types of things will normalize as the pup continues to grow and mature - they grow into their bodies so to speak - but also that we can't guarantee that he won't have problems with that leg in the future. He said he's seen this in Great Danes before and it's not uncommon for large breed puppies to have various growing pains as they get older. Large breed puppies like great danes and mastiffs require a special diet. Your mastiff / great dane puppy should only be fed a high quality ADULT DOG FOOD or a GIANT BREED PUPPY FOOD. Do NOT feed your puppy a regular puppy food. Doing so can cause serious bone, joint and hip problems which can be very costly and painful for your dog. These foods have properly balanced levels of calcium and phosphorus, and are lower in fat and protein which allows your puppy to grow at a slower rate, lessening the likelihood that he will develop hip, bone and joint problems. (Don’t worry, your dog will still grow to be the same size!) More about CarlisleGood with Dogs, Good with Kids
