Meet Abbey! This girl was found wandering and taken to a local shelter. She was there for a couple of weeks but no owner was located and no one came forward to claim her. They reached out for rescue assistance and thankfully we had a wonderful foster step up and save her life! She was underweight when she came in but is eating great and filling out nicely.

Abbey is very friendly and like many Mastiffs, is velcro and likes to be with her people. Her foster mom reports she is an easy keeper, well mannered and does great with the other dog and the cats in the home. She is able to free roam when home alone. She doesn't get on the furniture, and typically prefers to be on the dog bed on the floor or in a crate.

Abbey is very wary of strangers and startle easily when in new situations like out on walks. When trying to take her on walks in the neighborhood, if she gets scared she bolts away. So she's a dog who would need more training and socialization for a family who is wanting to take her out on walks. She will run away from people that she doesn't know until she feels safe with them. She's good at protecting her home and will bark if she hears someone outside or on the door. No one will sneak up to a house with Abbey in it!

Like many of our dogs, Abbey tested positive for heartworms but finished her treatment and will be ready for adoption early February!

Abbey is being fostered near Tulsa, OK.
