Meet Xena! This sweet girl found herself needing a soft spot to land. Her owners lived very close to an Army base and when they were doing the training drills, it was extremely scary for Xena. Because of all that noise, she developed noise anxiety and so would just be beside herself. Her owners didn't think that it was fair to her, so she stayed briefly with a relative in another state and then made her way to GPMR.

Xena is just a gem of a dog. She is housebroken and well mannered and does not require a crate. Xena prefers to graze rather than eat all of her food at once and it not at all protective of her food. She really is so easy going! She does great with both dogs and cats and except for lizards, doesn't chase any wildlife outside. She is a typical Mastiff in that she loves attention from her people and meeting new people. She just wants to lounge around the house all day with some occassional sunbathing!

We suspected Xena may have thunderstorm anxiety as well but so far we have not seen it. She has done well with the thunderstorms that have come through in the last few weeks. As a precaution, the Vet prescribed some calming medications to have on hand if needed. For her age, Xena is in good health. She did test positive for heartworms but due to her age, the Vet is recommended the slow kill treatment so that's what we are doing for her.

Xena may be a senior but this girl has lot of love to give! Please consider being her retirement home. :)

Xena is fostered near Houston, TX.
